Nigerian Afrobeat singer and saxophonist, Seun Kuti, has publicly stated his belief that the recent arrest of online fitness personality VDM in Abuja is connected to a past controversy involving a gospel singer. This assertion comes amidst a wave of online reactions and calls for VDM's release from various prominent figures.

In a video circulating online, Seun Kuti claimed his information stems from a conversation with VDM's lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. Kuti revealed a shared legal representation, stating, "VDM's lawyer is my lawyer, and we're currently entangled in a case with GTB and other banks. There's no bank in Nigeria that's a good bank."

Expanding on his theory, Seun Kuti further alleged that VDM has become a target for religious organizations and authorities within the country. He stated, "As the Federal government is running our country, all these big pastors dey run Nigeria. The people of God are the ones fighting VDM for speaking the truth."

While vehemently advocating for VDM's freedom, Seun Kuti reiterated his conviction that religious bodies are the driving force behind the arrest. The specific nature of VDM's previous controversy with the gospel singer was not detailed in Kuti's statement, leaving room for speculation regarding the exact chain of events leading to the current situation.

The arrest of VDM has ignited considerable debate online, with numerous celebrities and social media users expressing their support for the fitness influencer and demanding clarity regarding the reasons for his detention. Seun Kuti's intervention adds another layer of complexity to the unfolding situation, introducing the element of alleged influence from religious entities.

As the calls for VDM's release continue to amplify, the public awaits further information and potential responses from the authorities and religious bodies mentioned in Seun Kuti's statement.
