FirstBank Unveils Advanced Facial Biometric Technology on FirstMobile for Seamless User Enrollment and Device Activation
FirstBank has introduced an advanced facial biometric technology on its mobile banking app, FirstMobile, as part of a broader upgrade designed to deliver a more seamless, secure, and user-friendly digital banking experience.

Enhanced Security with Facial Biometrics
One of the most significant additions is the new facial recognition technology for sign-up and activation. This feature allows customers to register on the FirstMobile app using secure facial verification, eliminating the need for physical cards or complex passwords.
To strengthen security even further, the system includes advanced anti-spoof detection to prevent fraud and unauthorized access, ensuring that customer accounts remain protected at all times. This upgrade is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of users, including new customers, those in the diaspora without access to physical cards, and people facing challenges with card verification or replacement.
New Virtual Credit Card and Instant Activation
In addition to facial biometrics, the FirstMobile app now supports virtual credit cards for secure online shopping. Customers can generate and use these cards directly from the app, offering a safer alternative to physical card details when making online purchases.
The update also enables instant credit card activation, allowing customers to begin using their new cards immediately without visiting a branch or waiting for manual approvals.
Flexible Salary Advance Options
Recognizing customers’ evolving financial needs, FirstBank has introduced a flexible salary advance feature in the app. Eligible users can now access salary advances with a convenient three-month repayment plan, providing greater flexibility for managing short-term expenses.
