French football giant OL Lyonnes has officially announced Jonatan Giraldez as their new head coach, stepping in to replace Joe Montemurro. The eight-time European champions revealed the appointment following Montemurro’s move to guide the Australian women’s national soccer team. Giraldez has signed a three-year contract with the newly rebranded club, now known as OL Lyonnes.

Giraldez arrives in France with an impressive resume, having guided Barcelona to a historic quadruple in his final season, securing the Liga F, Copa de la Reina, Spanish Super Cup, and the Champions League titles. He then transitioned to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in June of last year, joining the Washington Spirit. Notably, both OL Lyonnes and the Washington Spirit are under the ownership of Michele Kang.

Kang expressed her strong confidence in Giraldez’s capabilities, stating, “Jonatan’s commitment to excellence and performance is unmatched. His leadership, tactical acumen, and dedication to player development will propel our club to the next level, both nationally and internationally.” She further emphasized his crucial role in "elevating OL Lyonnes to new heights for both players and fans.”

The move signals a significant new chapter for OL Lyonnes as they aim to maintain their dominance in European women's football under Giraldez's proven leadership.
