Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has vehemently denied recent allegations made by a widow and her daughter who, in a viral video, accused the actress of unlawfully seizing their late husband's land. Ozokwor took to her Instagram to set the record straight, asserting her legal ownership of the disputed property.

The actress clarified that she legally purchased the land in question in 2010, a transaction that occurred with the full knowledge and consent of the widow herself. According to Ozokwor, it was, in fact, the widow who initially approached her agent seeking a buyer for the property.

The Genesis of the Dispute

Ozokwor explained that the current dispute arose in 2023, when, 14 years after the initial sale, the widow allegedly attempted to resell a portion of the land without the actress's approval. In response to this perceived encroachment, Ozokwor took action by fencing off her property. This act, she stated, triggered the online accusations from the widow and her daughter, who subsequently claimed that Ozokwor had unjustly taken their inheritance.

"In 2010 – 15 years ago, I bought a piece of land. The land owner was aware of the sale. In fact, she was the one who approached my agent to help her find a buyer," Ozokwor wrote. "Fast forward last year, 14 years later. The previous owner decided it was a great idea to sell a plot out of my land without my knowledge. I got information, went and fenced my land. Next thing I see, the owner and her daughter on social media crying and accusing me of taking the only land their husband and father left them."

Allegations of Blackmail and Unverified Reporting

Describing the allegations as "blackmail, fraud, and malicious intent," Ozokwor expressed her dismay that the women were exploiting her public image to garner sympathy and financial donations. She further criticized bloggers for publishing the claims without proper verification, stating, "I am disappointed that some other bloggers reposted and shared the content without due diligence."

Vowing to clear her name, the esteemed actress announced her intention to pursue legal recourse. "As social media is not a court, I am pursuing legal means to vindicate my name because it took years to build and is my source of livelihood," she affirmed. "Now I say to you 'Meet Me in Court'."

Ozokwor concluded by thanking her fans and supporters for their unwavering backing, assuring them that the matter would be resolved through proper legal channels. Her resolute stance underscores the challenges faced by public figures in navigating online accusations and the importance of due process in resolving such disputes.
