Philomin’s appointment reflects Siemens’ broader ambition to accelerate its evolution into a technology-driven company. Artificial intelligence has become a strategic pillar alongside industrial software, as the firm works to develop new tools and services that support customers in sectors such as manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare.
One of the company’s flagship AI initiatives is the “Industrial Copilot,” an application designed to enhance productivity and facilitate human–machine collaboration. This effort gained momentum in 2023 when Siemens announced a partnership with Microsoft to embed AI copilots into industrial workflows. These tools aim to assist workers with tasks such as product design, production planning, and maintenance management—enabling companies to improve efficiency and adapt to increasingly complex industrial demands.
Welcoming Philomin to the leadership team, Siemens highlighted his extensive background in machine learning and large-scale AI deployments during his tenure at Amazon. His experience is expected to play a critical role in advancing Siemens’ AI strategy, including the development of scalable solutions tailored to industrial applications.
Philomin will report directly to Peter Koerte, Siemens’ managing board member who also serves as chief technology officer and chief strategy officer. Commenting on the appointment, Koerte expressed confidence in Philomin’s ability to drive the company’s ambitions in AI forward. “With his outstanding AI expertise and proven leadership in developing transformative technologies, he will make a decisive contribution to further expanding our data and AI capabilities,” Koerte said.
Siemens’ intensified push into AI aligns with broader trends in the industrial sector, where companies are increasingly leveraging data-driven insights and automation to optimize operations and respond to evolving market demands. By investing in top-tier talent and strategic partnerships, Siemens aims to position itself at the forefront of this technological shift.
