Trendupp Awards, widely regarded as Africa’s premier accolade for digital creators, has grown beyond its Nigerian roots to become a fully Pan-African celebration. The platform recognises influencers, content creators, and brands who not only engage audiences but actively shape discourse and define trends through the power of social media.
Themed “Still Explosive”, the 2025 edition is set to honour 17 standout individuals and brands selected from a shortlist of 104 nominees, each distinguished by their exceptional reach, impact, and innovation. These finalists represent a cross-section of Africa’s dynamic content scene—spanning multiple languages, cultures, genres, and digital platforms.
This year’s nomination phase drew an overwhelming 340,000 public entries, reflecting the growing significance of digital creators as both entertainers and agents of change. From this expansive pool, six nominees were shortlisted in each award category—except for the Emerging Force category, which features eight finalists and remains the only fan-voted category.
Reflecting on the strength of this year’s contenders, Sam Onyemelukwe, a respected juror and Senior VP, Global Business Development at TRACE, noted:
“The quality of nominees this year is genuinely remarkable. Every creator and brand on the list embodies the pillars of influence we’re here to celebrate: creativity, consistency, and engagement… While only one winner will be named per category, being nominated already signals that your voice matters, your work is valued, and your impact is real.”
Winners will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges from across the continent. The 2025 Jury includes well-known personalities and industry experts such as Iyabo Ojo (Nigeria), Ameyaw Debrah (Ghana), and Kelechi Amadi Obi (Nigeria), among others. They will assess each nominee based on three core pillars: Creativity, Engagement, and Consistency.
As the awards ceremony draws near, anticipation is building for what promises to be a spectacular celebration of digital excellence. With storytelling powerhouses, cultural disruptors, and innovative brands in the running, Trendupp Awards 2025 is set to reaffirm its place at the heart of Africa’s digital revolution.
