Renowned Nigerian gospel singer Lilian Nneji has been conferred Honorary Citizenship of the State of Georgia, USA, in recognition of her remarkable contribution to gospel music and her growing influence as a cultural ambassador on the global stage.

The prestigious certificate, personally signed by Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, was presented to Nneji during her “Lilian Nneji Live in Concert” event held recently in Lagos, Nigeria.

“I, Brad Raffensperger, the Secretary of State for the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim Nneji Lilian Nneka as an Honorary Georgia Citizen,” the official proclamation reads.

The document further extends full diplomatic courtesy to Nneji, designating her as a “goodwill ambassador” from Georgia in all her travels across nations and territories outside the United States. It is a symbolic gesture often reserved for individuals who exemplify excellence, global influence, and positive representation of values that transcend borders.

A Humble Response Rooted in Faith

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Nneji responded to the recognition by giving glory to God, quoting Proverbs 22:29:

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

She went on to say, “God has honoured me. I am simply grateful to God for releasing His grace and mercy upon me. This tells me that God will not stop rewarding my diligence in His work around the world. Doors will continue to open for me effortlessly.”

A Night of Celebration and Generosity

The concert, which served as both a worship gathering and a celebration of Nneji’s journey, was filled with stirring musical performances and heartfelt tributes. The event attracted a large assembly of gospel ministers, musicians, and worshippers, all gathered to honour Nneji’s music ministry and celebrate God through praise.

In an unexpected but deeply moving moment, Nneji expressed appreciation to her band and team with significant cash gifts as a token of her gratitude.

  • Some band members received ₦3 million each,
  • Others were awarded ₦2 million and ₦1 million, respectively.

“They have stood by me with sacrifice and loyalty. This is just a small way of saying thank you,” she said.

A Milestone Moment in a Growing Legacy

The honorary citizenship and the grandeur of the event reflect the growing international recognition of Lilian Nneji's impact, not just as a gospel artist, but as a voice of faith, hope, and cultural excellence.

Through her music and message, she continues to break boundaries and inspire audiences across continents. For Nneji, this honour from the State of Georgia is not just a personal milestone — it’s a testament to how gospel music can transcend geography, inspire nations, and unite hearts.

In her closing remarks, she thanked everyone who attended or supported the concert, calling their presence “a blessing and encouragement to continue her mission through gospel music.”

As she continues to walk the global path God has set before her, Lilian Nneji’s voice is proving to be not just an instrument of worship, but a beacon of international goodwill and grace.
