Gospel singer shares near-death encounter and divine transformation

Popular Nigerian gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has opened up about a life-altering spiritual experience she had during a 40-day fast and prayer retreat on a mountain, revealing how she narrowly escaped death and underwent what she described as a "spiritual surgery" performed by God.

Chidinma shared the testimony while addressing a congregation, offering a deeply personal account of her journey to seek divine direction, healing, and fulfillment.

From America to the Bush: A Search for God’s Voice

The singer revealed that after returning from the United States, she was led to embark on a solitary spiritual retreat in the wilderness, where she fasted, prayed, and sought God's guidance for over 40 days.

“I’m not Jesus, but I fasted and prayed for over forty days,” she said. “I lost weight. The experience was something I never imagined. I came from America and went straight to the bush. I cried, I sang, I prayed, and God came to me and spoke to me. It was so real.”

A Dark Temptation: The Devil’s Attempt to End Her Life

Chidinma shared how the retreat turned into a battlefield for her soul. In one chilling moment, she said the devil tried to tempt her into taking her own life by luring her to the edge of a cliff at night.

“The enemy tried everything to take me before my time. The devil took me to the top of the mountain, to the cliff at night, where everything was dark. And right there, the devil asked me to jump,” she recalled.

Though she felt overwhelmed by the voice urging her to leap, she said she was "barricaded" by an unseen force and could not move. According to her, this divine intervention saved her from what could have been a fatal fall.

“I was about to take the jump, and I noticed I was being barricaded, and I couldn’t jump. Something was just there, and I was crying. Somehow, my spiritual mum came to get me out,” she said.

A Divine Encounter and a New Life Perspective

Chidinma described the entire experience as a form of spiritual operation—where God removed and replaced elements of her life that were no longer needed.

“It was more like I was in a theatre. God performed surgery on me, took some things and put in some. He broke me into shreds,” she said.

This intense spiritual encounter left her transformed. According to the singer, she now has a renewed understanding of her purpose, a detachment from material things, and a deep, abiding sense of peace.

“I’ve seen it all, and material things don’t move me anymore. I wasn’t fulfilled, but now I have peace I never had—and you can’t buy that with money,” she said.

“Jesus Is King”

Summing up her experience, Chidinma reaffirmed her faith and devotion to Jesus, declaring that her journey, though difficult, brought her to a place of spiritual clarity and divine love.

“The enemy has seen what the Lord is about to do and tried to abort the mission. But Jesus is King. He had mercy on me and gave me love like I’ve never known,” she said with conviction.

Chidinma’s testimony has since resonated with many of her fans and followers, who see her story as a powerful reminder of divine protection, spiritual resilience, and the unwavering love of God.
