Nine years after their separation made headlines, Nollywood actor and director Afeez Owo has finally opened up about the crisis that nearly ended his marriage to actress Mide Martins. Speaking on the 'Behind The Fame' podcast, he revealed that a minor argument, and Mide's subsequent social media post about it, were the key factors that escalated the issue.

The news of their separation first broke in April 2016, when Mide Martins posted on social media, accusing her husband of leaving their matrimonial home after a disagreement concerning their children.

Afeez Owo confirmed that the post intensified the conflict. He explained that he had initially left the house out of anger, with the intention of staying at a hotel for only a couple of nights. However, after seeing his wife's public accusations, he decided to stay away longer.

"The news of our separation went viral. And the fight became our first and the last fight as a couple," he said. He added that the entire ordeal, which should have been resolved privately, was blown out of proportion by social media.

The actor credited his wife with ending the conflict. "She eventually came to apologise, and we reconciled," he stated, highlighting that their relationship was mended after she took the step to reach out.

Afeez Owo, who was the manager for Mide's late mother, actress Funmi Martins, married Mide in 2003, a year after her mother's passing. The couple's reconciliation has since stood the test of time, demonstrating a strong comeback from their public dispute.
