The decision, the airline explained, reflects growing passenger demand on the Abuja route and the carrier’s strategy to enhance connectivity for Nigerian travelers.
Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines, noted that the expanded schedule would provide greater flexibility for passengers. “The extra flights will offer immediate connections to many African and Asian destinations, reducing overall travel time for our customers,” she said in a statement released yesterday.
Beyond convenience, the airline is also offering added perks on selected routes. According to Mekonnen, passengers traveling to destinations such as Dubai and certain parts of India will enjoy increased baggage allowances on the additional flights.
“The extra flights from Abuja do not just offer more frequency; they come with extra benefits,” she emphasized. “There will be three evening flights while the daily midday flight remains unchanged. Only the new flights will operate at different times.”
As part of the expansion, Ethiopian Airlines will also collaborate with partners in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector to host an event in Abuja, aimed at showcasing the new service options and strengthening ties with the business and travel community.
With this move, Africa’s largest airline is further consolidating its footprint in Nigeria, one of its strongest West African markets, while offering passengers improved connections across its vast global network.
