The agreement, which includes a guaranteed payment of £66.3 million plus performance-related add-ons, ties Sesko to Old Trafford on a five-year contract. He follows Matheus Cunha, signed from Wolves for £62.5 million, and Bryan Mbeumo, who joined from Brentford in a £65 million deal with £6 million in add-ons, as part of manager Ruben Amorim’s ambitious attacking rebuild.
For Sesko, who has scored 16 goals in 41 appearances for Slovenia, the move is not just about the club’s illustrious past but its future potential. “The history of Manchester United is obviously very special, but what really excites me is the future,” he said after his unveiling. “When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.”
The forward was also on Newcastle United’s radar, but the Magpies failed to land him despite offering the lure of European football this season. Instead, Sesko opted for a United side determined to rebound from a frustrating 2024–25 campaign, with Amorim at the helm and an energetic recruitment drive underway.
