Nollywood actress and producer Mobimpe Adedimeji has publicly called out a YouTube channel she says has been relentlessly copying her original content, style, and identity, in a move she describes as mentally exhausting and deeply disrespectful.
In an emotional post shared on social media, Mobimpe revealed that a channel named “Mobimpewrite’s Stories” has been duplicating her videos and posters, deceiving unsuspecting fans into believing it is affiliated with her official platform, Mobimpe TV.
“I’m tired. I’m fed up,” she wrote. “Someone created a YouTube channel just to copy everything I do. Video for video. Poster for poster. She waits for me to post, then uploads the same thing, tricking people into believing it’s me.”
The actress explained that even her personal tributes, such as a birthday post dedicated to her mother, were copied word-for-word by the impersonating channel.
“That’s not inspiration. That’s disrespectful,” she said, clearly hurt by the continued imitation of her heartfelt work.
Despite repeated attempts to report the page through official channels, Mobimpe says the account remains active, growing its subscriber base and engagement by piggybacking on her brand’s visibility.
“This Has To Stop”
Mobimpe emphasized the years of hard work, consistency, and emotional investment she’s poured into building Mobimpe TV, and made it clear she would no longer tolerate the theft of her intellectual property.
“I have a team. We’ve tried to report this page, but it seems this person is determined to keep stealing my work, my sweat, my ideas, my creativity.”
“I don’t talk much, but today, I need to speak out. And she’s NOT THE ONLY ONE, but today, I’m starting with her!”
In a direct message to the alleged impersonator, Mobimpe warned that legal action is on the table, and vowed to pursue every available avenue to hold the individual accountable.
“You’re impersonating me and deceiving people—and one thing I can assure you is this: you will be caught. Soon.”
Call to Action
Mobimpe has now urged her fans and followers to report the channel en masse on YouTube, describing it as the first step in a broader effort to protect her creative work.
“Please fam, go on YouTube for me and report this page: Mobimpewrite’s Stories. Mass report it until it’s taken down. Let YouTube know she’s impersonating me and stealing my work.”
She also asked for suggestions from fans on technical or legal methods that could be used to bring down the channel permanently.
“If you know ANY solid way to bring these channels down legally, technically, any method at all, please drop a comment or send a DM.”
A Plea for Respect in the Creative Industry
The incident has sparked a broader conversation about intellectual property theft in Nigeria’s digital content space, especially among independent filmmakers and creators on platforms like YouTube.
Mobimpe concluded with a passionate reminder that content creation takes time, resources, and emotional energy—and should never be undermined by opportunists.
“Enough of this silence. Enough of people building platforms by tearing others down! I built Mobimpe TV with tears, passion, and consistency, and I won’t let someone else ruin that or hijack what I’ve poured my heart and soul into.”
Her message has since drawn wide support from fans and fellow creatives, many of whom have joined the call to report the impersonating channel and protect the rights of original creators online.
