In a major step toward empowering Ghana’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), MTN Ghana has unveiled a new capacity-building initiative—the MTN and Absa Mini MBA for SMEs. Launched on August 2 in collaboration with Absa Bank and Nova Business School Africa, the programme is designed to strengthen business acumen among entrepreneurs and SME executives through structured, practical training.
Equipping Businesses for Long-Term Impact
Speaking at the launch, Benedict Bentil, Senior Manager for Enterprise Business at MTN Ghana, noted that the programme is more than a corporate social responsibility effort—it is a strategic investment in the future of Ghana’s economy.
“Today marks the beginning of something deeply aligned with our purpose at MTN, supporting Ghanaian enterprises to grow, scale, and thrive,” Bentil stated. “Through the MTN and Absa Mini MBA for SMEs, we are making meaningful investments—not just financially and in human resources—but in your long-term success as high-impact businesses.”
He explained that the initiative targets SME leaders, offering them a curated learning experience that fuses strategy, financial intelligence, and leadership development. The Mini MBA will equip participants with tools, insights, and the confidence to navigate Ghana’s competitive business environment.
Corporate Collaboration for Entrepreneurial Growth
Bentil emphasized the importance of collaboration in delivering real, lasting value, citing MTN’s partnership with Absa Bank as a powerful example of what can be achieved when key players in corporate Ghana unite to support entrepreneurship.
“This is MTN walking the talk,” he said. “We are fulfilling our promise to work with you and do the real work of building and scaling businesses. This is an opportunity to collaborate with your peers, challenge your thinking, and make the most of the expert guidance and networks available to you.”
The Nova Business School Africa, serving as the programme’s academic delivery partner, will oversee content delivery, ensuring the learning modules are grounded in real-world applicability and driven by experienced facilitators.
Programme Structure and Benefits
Spanning 13 weeks, the Mini MBA features full-day, hands-on sessions across four high-impact focus areas:
- Strategic Growth
- Financial Advisory Services
- Business Development
- Operational Excellence
In addition to the core curriculum, participants will benefit from three additional months of business development and operational support after the formal sessions end. This extended engagement aims to reinforce learning outcomes and offer continuous mentorship.
A Commitment to Sustainable Enterprise
The launch of the MTN and Absa Mini MBA is part of MTN’s broader strategy to empower Ghanaian businesses through innovation, education, and partnership. As SMEs continue to serve as vital engines of economic growth and job creation, initiatives like this serve as a crucial foundation for national development.
With an emphasis on practical knowledge, peer learning, and access to expert networks, the Mini MBA promises to be a transformative experience for Ghana’s next generation of business leaders.
