Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, confirmed the sanction, stating that no individual, regardless of social status or political connections, would be above aviation safety rules.
“What I must assure the general public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book,” Achimugu said. “As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months flying in Nigeria.”
While the NCAA did not immediately disclose the full details of the incident, Achimugu emphasized that the authority is committed to maintaining discipline and accountability within the aviation ecosystem, adding that aviation safety regulations are globally binding and must be respected by all.
The agency also revealed plans to initiate legal proceedings against the artist, with formal communications already underway to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to that effect.
Responding to concerns about potential political interference — especially given K1 de Ultimate’s well-known ties to President Bola Tinubu — Achimugu insisted that the administration remains firm on the rule of law.
“President Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, are committed to upholding the rule of law,” he affirmed.
The development has sparked widespread attention, with many observers noting the NCAA’s stance as a strong signal that civil aviation regulations will be enforced without fear or favour — even when high-profile figures are involved.
