Nigeria is set to welcome global gas investors, policymakers, and top energy executives this October as preparations gather momentum for the 2025 Gas Investment Forum (GIF), a flagship event shaping the country’s gas industrialisation agenda.
The two-day forum, scheduled for October 7–8 at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, will be headlined by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen, who will deliver the keynote address and serve as Chief Host.
Strong Government and Industry Backing
According to Event Director Osaze Isesele, the 2025 edition enjoys endorsement from the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and is co-hosted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), underlining strong government-industry alignment.
“The Forum, now in its third edition, has become a central platform for strategic dialogue around Nigeria’s gas monetisation agenda and energy-driven industrialisation efforts,” Isesele said in a statement.
He added that the event would provide an unparalleled platform for collaboration between policymakers, regulators, and private sector players to advance Nigeria’s Decade of Gas policy.
Robust Line-up of Speakers
This year’s theme, “Charting New Opportunities for Investment, Growth & Industrialisation,” will spotlight opportunities across Nigeria’s gas value chain and its role in powering sustainable industrial growth in West Africa.
The forum has confirmed an impressive line-up of speakers, including:
- Ed Ubong, Coordinating Director, Decade of Gas Secretariat
- NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber
- Akachukwu Nwokedi, President, Nigeria Gas Association
- Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman, Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria
- Andrea Stegher, President, International Gas Union
- David Oluseyi Ige, CEO, GasInvest Ltd & Non-Executive Director, NNPC Ltd
- Eyono Fatayi-Williams, President, Women in Energy Network
- Damilola Owolabi-Osinusi, CEO, Selai Gas Station Ltd
- Oga Adejo-Ogiri, Executive Secretary, Association of Local Distributors of Gas
Others include senior executives from Panocean Newcross Group and representatives of international oil and gas organisations.
Driving Growth and Energy Transition
The forum will feature conference sessions and a trade exhibition, giving local and international companies the chance to showcase cutting-edge technologies, solutions, and investment-ready projects.
Organisers say the discussions will focus on unlocking Nigeria’s vast natural gas potential to drive industrialisation, energy security, and regional integration, while advancing Africa’s role in the global energy transition.
A projection released by the Forum highlights that Sub-Saharan Africa will account for 92% of Africa’s natural gas demand growth by 2050, with Nigeria expected to add more than 75 billion cubic meters of gas between 2023 and 2050. This surge, it noted, will be driven by gas-fired power generation, industrial expansion, and growth in petrochemicals and fertilisers.
A Regional Energy Hub
With gas increasingly positioned as a transitional fuel for Africa, stakeholders see GIF 2025 as a timely platform to cement Nigeria’s ambition of becoming a regional hub for gas-driven industrialisation.
“The Gas Investment Forum is where investment opportunities are identified, partnerships are forged, and innovation is showcased,” Isesele stressed. “It is the space where Nigeria and West Africa can truly chart a sustainable energy future.”
