The Nigeria Police Force said the decision followed a significant increase in permit applications through its official online platform, reflecting heightened public responsiveness to the directive. The extension, according to the Force, will allow additional time to carefully review applications and ensure permits are granted only to qualified individuals, in line with national security considerations.
Police authorities added that the grace period would also be used to fine-tune both digital and physical verification processes, aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the permit system and preventing its misuse.
Reiterating the official application channel, the IGP stressed that citizens should only use https://possap.gov.ng to apply for the permit and avoid unofficial intermediaries. He urged members of the public to report cases of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the Police, including through the dedicated hotline 09169967000.

The tinted glass regulation, which requires vehicle owners to obtain formal clearance for factory-fitted or aftermarket tints, is part of the Force’s broader efforts to enhance visibility for law enforcement, curb criminal activities, and strengthen road safety oversight.
