Nigerian makeup artist Theresa Emegwara, widely known as TesGlam, has etched her name in the Guinness World Records after completing the longest makeup application by an individual, clocking 103 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Her media aide, Robert Ekat, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, noting that the record was achieved on August 19 at 7:15 a.m.

Pushing Beyond the Benchmark

The 28-year-old artist, however, is not stopping at breaking the record. She has set her sights on extending the milestone to 144 hours, a feat she has branded as “Glam 4-144.” The marathon challenge, which began on August 14 following Guinness World Records’ approval, is expected to span approximately six days.

Expressing her gratitude, TesGlam said:

“I am filled with immense gratitude and energy from the support of everyone cheering me on. This has really tested me; I have cried and nearly given up. We are not yet done. The aim is 144 hours.”

Previous Record and Nigerian Streak

TesGlam’s achievement displaces Ghana’s Akosua Mantey Roselyn, who set the previous record on April 3, 2024.

Her attempt adds to a series of recent Guinness World Record triumphs by Nigerians, including Tunde Onakoya’s chess marathon and Chef Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon, both of which drew significant national and international attention.

By pushing toward the 144-hour mark, TesGlam hopes not only to secure her place in the record books but also to inspire resilience and creativity among young Nigerians pursuing global recognition in diverse fields.
