The 15-track body of work dropped on major streaming platforms on Friday, offering fans what the singer describes as her “most intimate project yet.”
In an earlier announcement on her X page, Savage explained the inspiration behind the title, saying the album reflects a return to her roots and carries pieces of her heart in every song.
“This project is so close to my heart and I poured every part of me into it. I just pray you receive it with the same love I created it with. Please cherish it, because This One Is Personal,” she wrote.
The self-acclaimed “Number One Africa Bad Girl” added that she kept collaborations limited in order to ensure the album told her story directly. “This album is my story, so I kept the features limited. I wanted you all to feel me in every song,” she said.
During a fan Q&A on X, Savage further explained that her choice of collaborators—Taves, Skepta, and Grammy-winning songwriter James Fauntleroy—was intentional, emphasizing artistic connection over streaming numbers. “It’s less about numbers and more about connection,” she noted.
Recorded across Nashville, London, San Francisco, and Lagos, the album mirrors Savage’s personal and professional journey since her last project in 2020, navigating motherhood, career transitions, and self-discovery.
The tracks explore themes of love, heartbreak, resilience, and renewal. Standout titles include “I’m Done”, “Angel Dust”, “You4Me”, “On the Low” featuring Skepta, “Addicted” featuring Taves, “Change” with James Fauntleroy, and the interlude “This One Is Personal.”
Known globally as the Queen of Afrobeats, Savage’s new project is already drawing attention as one of the year’s most anticipated releases, underscoring her continued influence on the genre’s evolution.
