TikTok has announced ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ by rising star BhadBoi OML as Nigeria’s official Song of the Summer for 2025, a track that ruled feeds, soundtracked countless trends, and captured the country’s musical spirit through the season.
According to Toyin Mustapha, TikTok’s Head of Music Partnerships for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, the artist’s album “Bhadboi” became a standout on the platform because of its distinct blend of pop rhythms and Yoruba-rooted Fuji influences, showcasing how new-generation acts are expanding the frontiers of Afrobeats.
“The album masterfully combines contemporary pop with traditional Yoruba sounds, reflecting the ongoing evolution of Afrobeats through genuine cultural fusion,” Mustapha said in a statement on Tuesday.
He explained that ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ and the broader Songs of the Summer list reflect the diverse and vibrant sonic landscape shaping Nigerian music today. While heavyweights like Davido, Olamide, and Rybeena continued to dominate charts with high-energy anthems, the top ten also featured a cross-section of genres — from gospel-inspired tracks to pan-African hits from South Africa and Uganda that struck a chord with Nigerian audiences.
“TikTok is where music truly comes to life,” Mustapha added. “It’s a community where fans, creators, and artists come together to shape culture — and even seasons — in real time.”
Highlighting the platform’s growing role as a cultural hub, Mustapha noted that collaboration remained a winning formula in 2025, with six joint projects appearing in the top ten. Among them were:
- “99” by Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn, and Daecolm
- “With You” by Davido and Omah Lay
- “Gaddem” by Rybeena and Shoday
Amapiano’s irresistible pull also endured through songs like “Ngishutheni” by Goon Flavour, Master KG, and Eemoh, proving the genre’s pan-African staying power. At the same time, emotionally driven and inspirational songs, such as Chella’s “My Darling”, found their own viral moments — showing that fans’ tastes continue to embrace both depth and danceability.
These tracks, Mustapha observed, resonated not only because of their catchy hooks but also because they embodied the creativity and vibrance of Nigeria’s youth culture — the heart of TikTok’s influence in the region.
Ultimately, TikTok’s 2025 Songs of the Summer list goes beyond mere rankings. It reflects the app’s growing role as a cultural incubator, amplifying authentic, locally rooted music and propelling it to global audiences.
