In a major move to strengthen its foothold in the data protection and artificial intelligence market, backup and recovery software giant Veeam Software has announced plans to acquire data privacy management firm Securiti AI for approximately $1.73 billion. The acquisition underscores Veeam’s strategic push to meet growing enterprise demand for tools that safeguard and manage vast volumes of data across multiple cloud environments — especially as AI-driven applications surge globally.
According to a joint statement released on Tuesday, Veeam will integrate Securiti AI’s flagship Data Command Center — a platform designed to unify, monitor, and secure data spread across various cloud services — with its own suite of data backup and recovery solutions. The merger is expected to enhance Veeam’s ability to deliver end-to-end data visibility, governance, and protection amid rising cybersecurity threats.
Once the transaction closes in the fourth quarter of 2025, Securiti AI’s Chief Executive Officer Rehan Jalil will join Veeam as President of Security and AI, a role that will focus on advancing the company’s security innovation roadmap.
The deal positions Veeam to more aggressively compete with industry rivals such as Rubrik and Commvault Systems, both of which have also ramped up investments in data resilience and AI-driven security capabilities.
Morgan Stanley advised Securiti AI on the transaction, while JPMorgan provided financing support to Veeam. The companies noted that Securiti AI’s San Jose–based operations and its Data Command Center product will continue to be offered independently, with integrated functionalities expected to roll out soon after the acquisition’s completion.
The move comes less than a year after Insight Partners, Veeam’s largest shareholder, sold a $2 billion stake in the company in a secondary sale that valued it at $15 billion. Insight Partners originally acquired Veeam in 2020 for around $5 billion, marking one of the largest software buyouts at the time.
Veeam’s software is widely used by enterprises to recover data after cyber incidents, including ransomware attacks and accidental data loss. Its signature technology enables immutable backups, ensuring that data copies remain protected and unaltered even when hackers attempt to encrypt or delete files.
By bringing Securiti AI’s privacy intelligence and cloud security tools under its umbrella, Veeam is signaling a shift toward a more comprehensive “data protection and governance” model — one that merges cyber resilience, AI readiness, and compliance into a single, unified framework.
