The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has dismissed circulating rumours claiming that legendary Yoruba actor and cultural icon Olalere OsunPaimo, popularly known as Lere Paimo or Baba Eda Onile Ola, has passed away.

In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the association’s National Public Relations Officer, Adejonwo Oluwafemi, ANTP confirmed that the veteran actor is alive and in good health.

“We would like to inform the public that reports circulating on Facebook about the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are false,” the statement said. “We have confirmed with Baba Eda Onile Ola’s wife that he is alive and in good health. Please disregard these false reports and be aware that they are being spread by unscrupulous individuals.”

The association cautioned the public against sharing unverified information, stressing that such rumours cause unnecessary panic and distress.

“We urge everyone to verify information before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation,” it added.

Lere Paimo, a celebrated figure in Nigerian theatre and film, continues to be revered for his contributions to Yoruba arts, culture and storytelling.
