Nigerian global music sensation Ayra Starr has revealed that she has officially taken up residence in New York City, marking a new chapter in her rapidly expanding international career.

Speaking during her appearance on Hot 93.7FM’s Buck N Regg show, the 23-year-old artist explained that the decision to relocate felt natural, noting that her “spirit has always belonged to New York.” She disclosed that she made the permanent move less than two months ago.

Ayra described the city as familiar and energetic, comparing it to Lagos due to the vibrant Nigerian community and the fast-paced lifestyle. According to her, New York instantly feels like home:

“I live in New York now, I officially moved in less than two months ago. I’m always in New York regardless, it reminds me so much of Lagos. There are many Nigerians here, so it feels like home.

She admitted she initially had reservations about relocating, but a moment of clarity during a stage performance reinforced her desire to embrace the city fully.

“I was skeptical about moving here even around that time I remember just being on stage and feeling I might move here. It feels like a moment of sunder, and I was like I really like it here.

The singer added that she is focused and purposeful about the transition.

“I know why I am here. I know my priorities. And I’m here for a good time."

Her move comes as she continues to gain international acclaim and expand her presence across global stages.
