...Calls Incident “Embarrassing”

The fallout continues from the widely circulated altercation between social media critic VeryDarkMan and comedian Mr Jollof, and this time veteran comedian Basketmouth is weighing in. Both men were detained by the Delta State Police Command on November 17, 2025, after engaging in a physical confrontation aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight — an incident that has triggered public outrage and industry commentary.

In a video shared on Instagram, Basketmouth expressed disappointment over the brawl, describing it as “embarrassing” and questioning how such conduct could occur in a confined space like an aircraft. He said the incident made him reflect on his own long-standing feud with fellow comedian AY Makun, noting that despite their differences, it never escalated to physical violence.

“Like everybody else, I just saw the video of Mr Jollof and VDM fighting in a public space, not just any public place, but inside a plane,” he said. “As plane tight reach, these grown men still find space dey fight. And I asked myself, how did we get here?”

Addressing the broader culture of public conflicts, he added, “Me and AY get issues for the long time, but it never got to the point that me and him go start to exchange punches. How embarrassing is this? Why can’t we just live in love and peace?”

The clash between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof stems from earlier allegations in which VDM accused Mr Jollof’s wife of engaging in extramarital affairs with politicians and internet fraudsters — claims that escalated tensions and ultimately drove the couple to file a N500 million defamation lawsuit against him.

Basketmouth’s remarks have added a new layer to the ongoing conversation about decorum among public figures and the growing frequency of high-profile disputes spilling into public spaces.
