Speaking during a panel session at the 2025 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Lagos, the award-winning singer revealed that he would love to take on an unexpected or spontaneous role in a film.
“My brother was saying that he was going to give me a role,” Davido shared. “I told him I wanted to do a role that would be shot by a taxi driver or something out of the blue. I definitely want to get involved in movies.”
He noted that his growing interest in cinema stems from admiration for artists like 50 Cent, who have successfully transitioned from music to film and television production.
“I’ve always been inspired by people like 50 Cent who moved from music into film and made a major impact,” he said, adding that he hopes to collaborate with African filmmakers to bring compelling, culturally grounded stories to the screen.
Davido also revealed that he draws creative influence from film and TV projects such as “Uncorked”, which highlight the power of storytelling in shaping global perceptions of African identity.
His remarks at AFRIFF further underscore a growing trend of cross-industry collaboration between Africa’s music and film sectors, as artists increasingly venture into storytelling, acting, and production to expand their creative impact beyond the stage.
