Nigeria’s Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) has cautioned the public to ignore a fraudulent online advertisement claiming the agency is recruiting Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel.

In a statement released Thursday and signed by Henry Agbebire, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, the authority stressed that no such recruitment exercise is taking place. The circulating advert, which features a link purportedly tied to FAAN, was described as entirely fabricated.

FAAN urged Nigerians not to click on the link or share personal information with unverified sources, warning that such schemes could expose individuals to identity theft or other forms of fraud. The agency encouraged the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious messages or websites, and rely solely on FAAN’s verified communication channels for credible updates.

“The attention of the @FAAN_Official has been drawn to a recruitment advertisement circulating online, claiming that Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel are being recruited through a link purportedly associated with FAAN,” the statement said. “We wish to categorically state that FAAN is not conducting any AVSEC recruitment at this time. The advertisement in circulation, including the link attached to it, is fake, misleading, and has no connection whatsoever with FAAN.”

The authority reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the public from misleading information while ensuring transparency in all official recruitment processes.
