FirstBank, widely regarded as West Africa’s premier financial institution and a leader in financial inclusion, has announced the next edition of its SMEConnect Webinar, scheduled for Wednesday, 26 November 2025. The virtual session forms part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to strengthen the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through targeted knowledge-sharing and business support initiatives.

The webinar, themed “Strategies for SMEs: Securing Your Business Under the New Tax Law,” aims to prepare business owners for imminent changes in tax regulations. Participants will receive practical guidance on compliance requirements, risk mitigation, and opportunities within the evolving fiscal landscape.

A panel of respected industry voices will anchor the discussion, including Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, who will deliver the keynote address. Additional perspectives will come from Yemi Adesanya, Financial Controller at FirstBank, while the session will be hosted by Dr. Abiodun Famuyiwa, Head of SME Banking at the bank.

Speaking ahead of the event, Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive for e-Business and Retail Products at FirstBank, emphasised the strategic importance of the programme. According to him, the SMEConnect Webinar is designed to ensure SMEs are not just equipped to survive, but empowered to scale sustainably in an increasingly competitive marketplace. He noted that the upcoming tax reforms make timely, accurate information essential for business owners seeking to navigate regulatory changes confidently.

Beyond tax compliance, the webinar will also highlight the value of business formalisation and outline the financial solutions available to both registered and unregistered enterprises, including the bank’s FirstSME account offerings tailored to support growth and operational efficiency.
