Africa will be strongly represented in the knockout stage of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, with four teams securing their places following the conclusion of the group phase on Saturday.

Uganda, Burkina Faso, Morocco, and Mali all booked their tickets to the Round of 16, marking an impressive continental showing at this year’s tournament.

Burkina Faso and Uganda sealed their progression in dramatic style, defeating Germany and Senegal, respectively, to advance. Their victories contributed to an eventful final day of group fixtures that also saw European powerhouses England, Italy, and Japan comfortably secure qualification.

Elsewhere, Korea DPR edged Venezuela, while Uzbekistan prevailed in a penalty shootout against Croatia to clinch their spots in the next phase.

The Round of 16 begins on Tuesday, November 18, as the competition shifts into its high-pressure elimination stage.
