Rapper Olamide has spoken out following a stir caused by his recent remark ranking Wizkid as the leading Afrobeats artist after the legendary Fela Kuti. The comment, made during a press briefing in Toronto, Canada, drew reactions from fans and media alike.

Addressing the debate, Olamide acknowledged the diversity of opinions in the music industry and emphasised that the space is large enough for all artists to flourish. “Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose – there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone,” he wrote.

Olamide also highlighted the mindset of top performers such as Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, noting that they remain focused on their craft rather than public opinion. “Burna, David, and Wiz aren’t narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone else’s opinion or perspective. That’s part of why they have reached where they are today,” he added.

Through his statement, Olamide urged fans to respect differing views while continuing to celebrate their preferred artists, underlining a message of unity and mutual respect within the Afrobeats community.
