The “Zazu” crooner, who already holds an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from Kwara State Polytechnic, said returning to school is part of his effort to take greater control of his music career and record label, Zeh Nation.
“Even though I already have an OND from Kwara State Polytechnic, I still want to further my education so I can understand my music royalties and business deals better, especially for my record label, Zeh Nation,” Portable explained.
He noted that while talent and fame have helped him achieve success, formal education would provide the technical and managerial knowledge needed to navigate contracts, royalties, and digital music revenues more effectively.
“Education no get end. I want to learn how to manage my empire myself, not depend on others to explain every deal,” he added.
Building a Smarter Music Empire
Portable, known for his outspoken personality and street-inspired sound, said his goal is to transform Zeh Nation into a well-structured and sustainable music label that supports emerging artists and operates transparently in terms of revenue sharing and artist management.
Industry analysts have commended his decision, noting that an increasing number of Nigerian artists are prioritizing education and business literacy to strengthen their independence in a fast-evolving digital music economy.
A Shift in Focus
Since his breakout in 2021, Portable has remained one of the most controversial figures in Nigerian entertainment — often in the news for his bold remarks and public altercations. However, his recent statements suggest a shift toward personal growth and professional development.
If he follows through with his plans, Portable would join a growing list of Nigerian entertainers returning to school to better manage their brands in an industry where business acumen is proving just as vital as musical talent.
