On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos became a vibrant hub of youth, creativity, and celebration, as The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) hosted its 19th edition under the theme “Threads of Legacy.” The evening brought together Africa’s boldest young innovators, leaders, and visionaries to honor the legacies being woven across the continent.

The event was hosted by the charismatic duo of award-winning Nollywood actor Mike Afolarin and Kenyan media personality Azeezah Hashim, who made history as the first-ever East African host of the prestigious awards. From the moment the red carpet rolled out, excitement filled the air. Former Big Brother Naija housemate Sabrina Idukpaye, alongside Desmond Ekunwe and Adaeze Aduaka, dazzled in standout looks, while creative entrepreneur and podcast host Lynda Aguocha made history by recording the first-ever live podcast on the TFAA red carpet.

The night was also a feast for the senses. Soul-stirring performances by Savy Henry and Naomi Mac set the tone, followed by nostalgic renditions from Nigerian music icons Faze and Ruggedman. Emerging artists Zadok, Dwin The Stoic, and DOTTi The Deity brought energy and flair to the stage, reminding attendees of the continent’s rich and evolving creative talent.

Influential personalities from across sectors attended, including Professor Folasade Ogunsola, Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani, Deyemi Okanlawon, Omowunmi Dada, Anthonia Alabi (Sasha P), Gaise Baba, Bayo Omoboriowo, Tope Runsewe, and Hope Egbe-Edward, among others. Their presence underscored the significance of recognizing Africa’s young changemakers.

Expressing pride in this year’s edition, Executive Director of The Future Project and Group CEO of RED | For Africa, Ayodeji Razaq, said, “We are proud to honour the exceptional young people adding the threads to our collective legacy. Tonight’s winners have proven with their powerful work and impact that legacy is not built in a single moment but through every decision we make… We will keep weaving our collective tapestry to bring Africa into the glorious future we all deserve.”

A highlight of the evening was the appearance of TFAA co-founders Chude Jideonwo and Adebola Williams. In a nostalgic and heartfelt address, Chude reflected on the award’s origins: “Twenty years ago, we were two teenage dreamers with a vision to tell a different story of our generation. So, we began what became The Future Awards Africa. Not just as a stage to celebrate success, but as a mirror to reflect our excellence to ourselves…”

Adebola Williams added, “To every young person in this room, and those watching beyond, do not wait for permission to begin. Be the evidence that possibility is not potential; it is practice. It is courage in motion and persistence made visible.”

Among the evening’s big winners was Guinness World Record holder, medical doctor, and visual artist Fola David, who took home the Young Person of the Year Award. This edition also introduced the Performing Arts category, which was awarded to hype man Olugbesan Olatubosun, popularly known as Big Bimi.

The ceremony concluded with a touching tribute to the late broadcaster and on-air personality Dan Foster, celebrating his life and career, which inspired a generation of media professionals.

As TFAA 2025 demonstrated, Africa’s youth are not just shaping the present—they are actively weaving the threads of a lasting legacy, one bold step at a time.
