Jegede explained that the entertainment industry thrives on visibility and perception, noting that audience appeal often begins with what viewers see. According to her, this reality makes looks an important factor in showbiz, even though it should not overshadow skill. She pointed out that many actors succeed through talent, dedication, and other strengths unrelated to physical attributes. Still, she maintained that those who consider appearance their strongest asset are free to leverage it, as such dynamics exist across various industries.
Addressing concerns about earnings within Nollywood, Jegede said payment structures largely depend on an actor’s track record and longevity. She stressed that those who have “paid their dues” over time are more likely to receive compensation that reflects their value.
While noting that Nollywood may not cover every financial need for every practitioner, she expressed satisfaction with the industry’s growth and improving financial landscape. For her, the sector has evolved significantly, and the progress is evident in the improved livelihoods of many professionals compared to earlier years.
