In a statement shared via Instagram, the outgoing National President of the AGN, Emeka Rollas, made it clear that the Guild will no longer tolerate actors who publicly call out colleagues, engage in online accusations, or attempt to resolve disputes on social media platforms. According to him, any member found engaging in such acts will face sanctions in line with the AGN constitution and established disciplinary procedures.
Rollas noted that this warning is not new, recalling that similar notices were issued in the past. However, the persistence of online altercations has made it necessary for the Guild to restate its position. He described social media “trials” as counterproductive, arguing that they do not deliver justice but instead fuel misinformation, deepen divisions, and further harm the image of Nollywood.
Emphasising the need for order and accountability, Rollas reminded actors that the Guild has recognised channels, committees, and processes designed to address grievances fairly and professionally. He urged members to utilise these structures rather than resorting to public confrontations that often spiral out of control.
As he prepares to officially hand over leadership to the newly elected AGN executives on Thursday, 29 January 2026, Rollas expressed concern about the legacy he leaves behind. He stated that it is his earnest desire that the incoming leadership does not inherit a culture of online hostility, public accusations, and indiscipline within the industry.
Calling for unity and maturity, Rollas appealed to actors to support the new administration by exhibiting good conduct, restraint, and professionalism, both online and offline. He assured members that justice would be served when matters are handled through the appropriate channels.
The AGN president concluded by urging stakeholders to protect the image of Nollywood, respect due process, and manage differences with dignity, stressing that while the show must go on, it should do so with discipline, respect, and unity.
