The certificate was formally presented on December 1, 2025, at the NCAA Corporate Headquarters in Abuja during a ceremony led by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo. The event was announced via the Authority’s official X account on Monday.
“The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued an Air Operator Certificate to Heliconia–EAN Aero Nigeria Limited to commence charter operations in Nigeria,” the statement read. Capt. Najomo described the smooth certification process as a demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business, while upholding rigorous aviation safety standards.
He also emphasized that the Authority would intensify active surveillance and continuous monitoring of all certified operators, ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and protecting the credibility of the aviation sector.
Heliconia–EAN Aero Nigeria now joins a growing list of operators authorised to run charter services in the country. Earlier this year, 3 Horizons Limited also obtained its AOC after fulfilling regulatory requirements, signaling a steady expansion of Nigeria’s charter aviation segment.
An AOC is a critical certification that confirms an airline possesses the necessary personnel, equipment, facilities, and safety standards to conduct commercial operations. Beyond regulatory compliance, it assures operational and financial viability and enhances market credibility.
The recent approvals highlight increased activity in Nigeria’s charter flight sector, reflecting both investor confidence and growing opportunities in the country’s aviation market. With Heliconia–EAN Aero Nigeria now operational, passengers and businesses can expect more options for charter services across Nigeria.
