American singer Jason Derulo says he has permanently changed the way he conducts himself in professional settings, announcing that he will no longer allow himself to be alone in a room with any female colleague. The decision, he explained, stems from the financial and reputational toll of a nearly two-year sexual harassment case that continues to shadow his career.

Speaking in an interview with Graham Bensinger, Derulo said the long-running legal dispute has cost him millions in lost partnerships and strained industry relationships—despite the lawsuit being dismissed twice in other jurisdictions.

“I will never be alone in a room with a woman that I work with… ever, ever again,” he said. “That case was dismissed twice. And I lost so many brand deals, relationships off of a story that was not even slightly believable. Why didn’t they post the dismissal at least? Wouldn’t that be fair?”

The controversy resurfaced after aspiring singer Emaza Dilan refiled her sexual harassment lawsuit against Derulo in New York. Her earlier claims, lodged in California and Nevada, were dismissed on procedural grounds, and no court has yet ruled on the substance of the allegations.

Still, Derulo said the damage has already been done. According to him, the accusations—regardless of their legal status—have forced a fundamental shift in how he interacts with women in the entertainment industry, all in an effort to protect himself from future claims.

The case continues to develop, with the newly filed New York suit likely to determine the next legal chapter. Meanwhile, Derulo’s comments underscore the broader conversation in entertainment about workplace boundaries, reputational risk, and the high stakes faced by public figures navigating professional relationships.
