The 17th edition of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Lagos edition, delivered an evening of glitz, glamour, and celebration as the Nigerian film industry’s top talents were honored at the National Theatre. Among the highlights of the night, Femi Adebayo’s hit series Seven Doors and the drama Farmers Bride emerged as the biggest winners, showcasing the best of Nollywood’s storytelling and technical craftsmanship.

While Farmers Bride claimed the most prestigious accolades, winning both Movie of the Year and Director of the Year, it was Seven Doors that dominated the technical categories, proving the growing appreciation for high-quality production in Nigerian cinema. The series swept four major awards, including Best Production Design, Best Special Effects, Best Series, and Best Cinematography, underscoring its status as a technical tour de force.

The night also celebrated outstanding performances across the industry. Black Out took home the lead acting honors, with Gideon Okeke and Padita Agu winning Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively. In the supporting categories, veteran actress Mercy Aigbe was recognized for her role in My Mother Is a Witch, while Taye Ayimoro earned Best Supporting Actor for Son of the Soil.

Romantic chemistry on screen did not go unnoticed: Tobi Bakre and Folu Storms won the Best Kiss award for their sizzling performances in Red Cycle. Cultural storytelling was celebrated as well, with Abanisete taking home the Best Indigenous Film award, highlighting Nollywood’s dedication to preserving local narratives.

The evening also spotlighted emerging talent, as Razaaq Adoti and Una Idoko received the Most Promising Actor and Actress awards for their roles in Son of the Soil and I Am Anis, respectively, signaling a bright future for the industry.

Special recognition awards were presented to industry stalwarts Steve Ayorinde, Funke Akindele, and Dr. Shaibu Husseini, honoring their lasting contributions to Nigerian cinema.
