The AMVCA, MultiChoice’s flagship initiative, is dedicated to recognising and celebrating outstanding African storytelling in film and television. The upcoming edition aims to showcase the continued growth, creativity, and global potential of the continent’s entertainment industry, reinforcing the awards’ position as Africa’s most prestigious entertainment platform.
Building on its legacy of honoring both established and emerging talent, the 12th edition introduces significant enhancements to broaden its pan-African reach. Notably, the Indigenous Language categories have been expanded to include Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa, reflecting a commitment to celebrating diverse African cultures.
This year’s awards will feature 32 categories, including 18 decided by an expert jury, 11 determined by audience votes, and two special recognition awards: Lifetime Achievement and the Trailblazer Award.
The 12th AMVCA ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026, promising a high-profile celebration of Africa’s entertainment talent and creative excellence.
