Over 50 passengers bound for Warri, Delta State, were left stranded at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, yesterday, as Nigeria’s largest airline, Air Peace, failed to provide timely updates on a disrupted flight.

Passengers said they had been stuck at the airport for more than five hours, with little or no communication from the airline regarding when they would be allowed to board. The airline reportedly attributed the delay to adverse weather conditions around 8:00 a.m., but no additional details were shared by the time of reporting.

A relative of one of the passengers, Mr. Okome Thomas, expressed concern over the lack of support from the airline. His aunt, who has an underlying medical condition and was traveling for treatment, reportedly arrived at the airport at 6:27 a.m. and was left waiting for hours without proper assistance.

“Air Peace is fond of repeatedly disregarding its passengers,” Thomas said. “The airline acts as though it is rendering charity services to Nigerians.”

Attempts by Vanguard to reach a representative of Air Peace for comment on the disrupted flight were unsuccessful.

Passengers affected by the delay called for improved communication and better management of disruptions, highlighting the challenges faced by travelers relying on domestic carriers for critical travel.
