Away from the heated exchanges and legal back-and-forth surrounding a long-running paternity controversy, Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has publicly acknowledged the unwavering support of his father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke.

The singer took to X on Thursday with a brief but emotionally charged post, thanking his father with a heart and prayer emoji — a message many interpreted as a response to recent developments in the case that has once again drawn public attention.

The post followed a rare press conference held on Wednesday by Dr. Adeleke, a billionaire businessman and philanthropist, who directly addressed claims that Davido fathered a 12-year-old girl identified as Anu (Aanuoluwapo). Speaking to the media, Adeleke dismissed the allegations, stating that multiple DNA tests conducted at different hospitals in Lagos had conclusively proven that his son is not the child’s biological father. He added that Davido’s cousin, B-Red, was also involved in the testing process to ensure transparency and credibility.

Adeleke further clarified that any financial support previously extended to the child and her mother — including school fees and other assistance — was offered purely out of compassion, not because of any confirmed paternal responsibility.

The controversy, which has resurfaced intermittently over the years, reportedly regained momentum after the child’s mother requested yet another independent DNA test. Davido has consistently denied the claims, maintaining that he has never met the woman and has repeatedly pointed to earlier DNA results to back his position.

In the aftermath of Davido’s post, fans and celebrity watchers were quick to read it as a public show of appreciation for his father’s uncommon decision to step forward and defend the family’s name. Online reactions have been mixed, with many praising the visible father-son bond, while others questioned whether the issue warranted such direct involvement from Adeleke at all.
