In a move aimed at cushioning the effects of job loss among its workforce, Harvesters International Christian Centre has announced a short-term financial support package for church workers who are currently unemployed.

The church disclosed that eligible workers will receive a monthly stipend of ₦50,000 for a period of three months to help them remain financially stable while seeking new employment opportunities. The initiative is targeted at leaders and volunteers serving in various capacities within the church who have recently lost their jobs.

Addressing members during a church service, the leadership explained that the support is designed to reflect the church’s responsibility to care for its own, particularly during difficult times. According to the announcement, the assistance is meant to provide temporary relief rather than long-term dependence, giving beneficiaries time to regroup and secure new sources of income.

The church further stated that interested and qualified individuals are expected to register with the church administration to access the support. However, the process will be simplified, as beneficiaries are already known and trusted through their service to the church, making extensive screening unnecessary.

Church leadership emphasised that the initiative aligns with its values of community, compassion, and mutual support, noting that members should be able to rely on one another in moments of need.

The announcement was received with applause from the congregation, with many members describing the gesture as timely and reflective of practical faith in action.
