Omotosho takes over from John Ugbe, who is retiring after nearly 15 years as CEO. Ugbe’s tenure is widely credited with driving sustained growth, innovation, and the expansion of MultiChoice’s presence across Nigeria, as well as deepening its role in the country’s evolving media and entertainment ecosystem.
The incoming CEO brings more than two decades of experience across media, telecommunications, and digital businesses in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa. Her professional background is rooted in operational excellence, customer value management, and strategic leadership in complex, multi-market environments.
According to MultiChoice, Omotosho will be responsible for the company’s overall strategy and day-to-day operations, while also leading engagement with regulators, business partners, and other key stakeholders. A central part of her mandate will be advancing local content creation and supporting the growth of Nigeria’s creative economy, an area that remains core to MultiChoice’s long-term strategy in the country.
Reacting to her appointment, Omotosho described the role as both an honour and a responsibility. She said Nigeria remains one of the Group’s most strategic markets, adding that she looks forward to working closely with teams and partners to strengthen consumer relationships, champion local storytelling, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.
Omotosho is a long-serving executive within the MultiChoice Group, having held several senior leadership positions over the years. She previously served as executive head of customer value management in Nigeria before being appointed group executive head of customer value management for the rest of Africa, where she provided functional leadership across more than 50 markets. In those roles, she led initiatives focused on reducing customer churn, accelerating digital product adoption, and improving average revenue per user.
Her experience also includes leading major business transformation programmes across the Group, including the introduction of agile project management frameworks, strengthened programme governance, and the rollout of knowledge-sharing platforms to improve operational efficiency.
Most recently, Omotosho was regional director for Southern Africa, overseeing a seven-country portfolio with full profit-and-loss responsibility. That role further reinforced her reputation as a results-driven leader with the ability to manage large teams and complex operations while maintaining a strong focus on long-term strategic growth.
Her career began in customer service and operations at Computer Systems Associates before progressing into senior leadership roles at Airtel Nigeria. At Airtel, she worked across postpaid customer retention, enterprise account management, and revenue optimisation, gaining deep experience in highly competitive commercial environments.
Academically, Omotosho holds an Executive MBA from Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Nigerian Institute of Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin.
Her appointment highlights MultiChoice’s continued emphasis on strong local leadership, operational rigour, and market relevance as it navigates an increasingly competitive and fast-evolving media landscape. With Nigeria emerging as a key hub for African content and digital entertainment, Omotosho’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the country’s media ecosystem.
