Savannah Energy PLC, the British independent energy company known for delivering “Projects that Matter”, has officially appointed Kehinde Olamide Ogunwumiju as a Non-Executive Director, effective immediately. The appointment follows an earlier announcement on October 9, 2025, regarding the company’s intention to add two Nigerians to its board.

Commenting on the appointment, Joseph Pagop Noupoué, Non-Executive Chair of Savannah Energy, said:

About Kehinde Olamide Ogunwumiju

Kehinde is the Managing Partner at Afe Babalola & Co, a leading African law firm. Appointed in 2017, he remains one of the youngest Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), the country’s equivalent of a King’s Counsel. His extensive legal practice includes successfully representing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in over 100 disputes, as well as the Federal Republic of Nigeria in multiple international cases, including a near US$5 billion claim at the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington, D.C.

In recognition of his contributions, Kehinde was awarded the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) in 2023. He holds multiple professional affiliations, including:

  • Member of the Nigerian Bar Association
  • Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN)

Kehinde’s academic background includes an LL.B with Honours from the University of Ibadan, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School (2005), and an LL.M. in International Commercial Law from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK (2007).
