Tanzanian heavyweight Simba SC have entered talks over a potential transfer for Nigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali as they seek to bolster their squad following a serious injury to first-choice shot-stopper Moussa Camara.
The 29-year-old, who currently plays for South Africa’s Chippa United, is entering the final six months of his contract. That status makes him eligible to negotiate pre-contract terms with foreign clubs, a factor that has reportedly attracted Simba’s interest.
Foot Africa has revealed that Simba are considering bringing Nwabali to Dar es Salaam either during the current transfer window or as a free agent at the end of the season, though no agreement has yet been reached.
“Sources have indicated that Simba are in active talks with the player’s camp in a bid to lure him to Dar es Salaam in the ongoing window or on a free transfer – but no agreement reached,” the report stated.
Injury Spurs Urgent Reinforcements
Simba’s pursuit of Nwabali has intensified after Camara sustained a knee injury, forcing the club to act quickly by signing Mahamadou Tanja Kassila from Niger’s AS FAN as immediate cover.
Reports suggest Simba may deregister Camara to make room for the new foreign signing, a development that has reportedly left the Guinea international frustrated. Camara is said to have requested the termination of the remaining six months of his contract.
Long-Term Goalkeeping Solution in Sight
With Camara’s future uncertain, Simba have reportedly identified Nwabali as the ideal long-term replacement. However, formal negotiations with Chippa United have not yet commenced.
“Simba identified Nwabali as the ideal successor to Camara, but the club is yet to submit a formal bid to Chippa United, who are open to offers,” Foot Africa added.
Rising Profile After AFCON Success
Nwabali’s stock has risen significantly following impressive displays for Nigeria, particularly at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he kept four clean sheets in seven matches as the Super Eagles secured a bronze medal.
As Simba weigh their options, a move for Nwabali could mark a major addition to their squad and underline the club’s ambition to remain dominant in Tanzanian and continental football.
