The organisers revealed the Phase 3 lineup on Thursday via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, showcasing a blend of Afrobeats, R&B, dancehall and amapiano stars drawn from Africa and the diaspora. Accompanying the lineup poster, the organisers wrote: “PHASE 3 IS HERE. Legacy energy meets Afro Nation debuts. This is the sound of a summer taking shape.”
The three-day festival will take place from July 3 to July 5, 2026, at the iconic Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, Portugal, a coastal venue that has become synonymous with Afro Nation’s vibrant atmosphere and large international crowds.
Grammy Award winner Burna Boy will headline the opening night on July 3, sharing the stage with South African global sensation Tyla. Known for his commanding live performances and crossover appeal, Burna Boy’s return to Afro Nation is expected to be one of the festival’s major highlights.
On July 4, Asake will take centre stage as the headliner. The singer has rapidly risen to global prominence with his fusion of Afrobeats, amapiano and Fuji-inspired sounds, making his headline slot a significant milestone in his career.
The festival will close on July 5 with a headline performance by Wizkid, one of Afrobeats’ most influential figures and a longstanding favourite at Afro Nation events. His appearance is expected to draw massive crowds, bringing the 2026 edition to a high-profile finale.
In addition to the Nigerian headliners, American R&B singer Kehlani and rapper Gunna have been announced as special guests, further underlining the festival’s cross-genre and international appeal.
The lineup also features a strong showing of Nigerian talent beyond the headliners. Olamide, Young Jonn, Darkoo, Wande Coal and Mavo are all billed to perform, adding depth and variety to the programme and highlighting different eras and styles within Nigerian popular music.
Organisers also confirmed that ticket sales will soon begin, announcing that “Early Access opens Thursday 5 Feb, 10 AM (GMT),” giving fans an opportunity to secure passes ahead of general sales.
Afro Nation is an annual festival dedicated to celebrating African music, fashion and culture across the global diaspora. Since its launch, it has grown into one of the largest and most influential music festivals in the world, attracting fans from Europe, Africa, North America and beyond.
The 2025 edition of Afro Nation Portugal featured performances from leading Nigerian artistes including Burna Boy, Davido, Tems and Qing Madi, continuing the festival’s tradition of spotlighting Africa’s biggest stars while introducing new voices to international audiences.
With its 2026 lineup already drawing attention, Afro Nation Portugal is once again positioning itself as a defining moment on the global music calendar and a major showcase for the continuing global rise of Afrobeats and African music culture.
