Events surrounding the cyberbullying case involving two prominent Nollywood figures took a conciliatory turn after Angela Okorie issued a public apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie.

The apology comes days after Okorie’s legal troubles, which began when operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Center, Abuja, arrested her at her Lagos residence on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, over allegations linked to online harassment of Mercy Johnson. She was subsequently arraigned before an Abuja court and remanded at Suleja Correctional Centre on Wednesday, January 29.

On Friday, January 30, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted Okorie bail. Justice Emeka Nwite, while ruling on the bail application filed by her counsel, Earnest Nwoye, set the bail sum at ₦5 million with one surety in like amount.

Shortly after regaining her freedom, Okorie released a video message addressed directly to Mercy Johnson and her family, expressing remorse over her actions. In the emotional footage shared online, the actress admitted her imperfections and offered an unreserved apology for any statements or posts she may have made.

She stressed that she did not believe the negative labels previously associated with Johnson and emphasized her desire for peace, noting that as mothers, both women share responsibilities that go beyond personal disputes. Okorie further stated that she does not support bullying in any form and described the apology as the beginning of a fresh chapter in their relationship.

Concluding the message, Okorie referred to Mercy Johnson as a friend, pledged to ignore gossip going forward, and offered prayers for her continued success and well-being.
