Former housemate of Big Brother Naija, Adeoluwa Okusaga — widely known as Saga — has revealed that his decision to join the reality series was a calculated step toward building a career in entertainment.

Speaking in a recent interview with Channels Television, the reality star disclosed that although he was professionally trained and working as an engineer, he saw the show as a strategic platform to transition into the creative industry.

“I went to Big Brother Naija to launch my career as an entertainer. I am an engineer,” he said, explaining that the move was intentional rather than accidental.

According to Saga, it was his colleagues who first encouraged him to audition for the show. Having observed his personality and talents, they believed he would excel in the highly competitive environment.

“My colleagues at work begged me to go for Big Brother Nigeria, they said I will do well,” he recalled.

Saga, who participated in Season 6 of the show in 2021 and was evicted in the ninth week, noted that engineering and entertainment may appear worlds apart but share underlying similarities. In his view, the technical discipline demands creativity, imagination and problem-solving — qualities that also define successful entertainers.

“As an engineer, you have to have a powerful imagination, understanding, and skill. A lot of artists like Leonardo da Vinci ended up as engineers because it’s a parallel,” he explained, drawing a comparison between technical and artistic excellence.

Since leaving the Big Brother house, Saga has steadily built a presence in Nollywood. Following his eviction, he ventured into acting and has since featured in over a dozen films, carving out a new professional identity beyond his engineering roots.

His journey reflects a growing trend of reality television alumni leveraging the visibility of such platforms to establish careers in film, media and other creative pursuits.
