Big Brother Naija star Neo Akpofure has served a legal notice demanding a public apology and retraction following allegations of sexual assault made against him on social media.
The notice, dated February 18, 2026, was issued by the law firm E.L. Akpofure, San & Co., which represents Akpofure. The letter targets an X (formerly Twitter) user identified as Ms. Arikan Udoka, accusing her of publishing defamatory statements that have allegedly harmed their client’s reputation.
According to the legal notice, Udoka posted on February 17, 2026, claiming that Akpofure raped her while they were both students at the University of Calabar (UNICAL). The post also suggested that the two had a casual sexual relationship, though the accuser claimed that the alleged encounter was non-consensual.
Akpofure’s lawyers strongly refuted the allegations, describing them as “entirely false, malicious and defamatory.” The notice further asserts that the claims have subjected Akpofure to “public odium, reputational injury and emotional distress.”
The legal notice demands that the accuser delete the post and any related content, issue a clear public retraction, and publish an apology acknowledging that the allegations are untrue. Additionally, the lawyers requested a written undertaking that no further defamatory statements will be made.
The firm warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would trigger legal proceedings, including a civil suit for defamation under Nigerian law.
