A heated custody dispute between Afrobeats star Davido and his estranged partner, Sophia Momodu, spilled onto social media after the singer mistakenly directed criticism at the wrong individual.
The controversy followed a courtroom exchange involving Davido and lawyer Ebelechukwu Enedah, who represents Momodu. Reports indicate that tensions flared during proceedings over references to Davido’s late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
In the aftermath, Davido took to Instagram to criticise the lawyer’s conduct. However, in a case of apparent misidentification, he reposted content from Nigerian gospel artiste Tosin Bee, seemingly assuming a connection between the musician and the lawyer.
“And she has a son. Tosin you will live long amen with the rubbish you dey sing… Useless people,” Davido wrote in the now widely circulated post.
Tosin Bee swiftly responded, distancing himself from the matter and clarifying that he had no involvement in the legal dispute.
“Hello Mr David, I don’t know anything about the post you made. As a matter of fact, my mum went to be with the Lord eight years ago,” he stated.
The incident has since sparked widespread conversation across social media platforms, with many observers describing it as a case of mistaken identity and cautioning against the risks of online reactions amid sensitive legal battles.
Supporters of the gospel singer also expressed solidarity, with one commenter writing, “I guess this is a case of mistaken identity. So sorry you had to deal with this, but my prayers are with you. I love you brother.”
The episode underscores how quickly personal disputes can escalate in the digital age — and the reputational fallout that can follow when emotions run high.
