In a statement issued in Lagos by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, FAAN confirmed that the Go-Cashless cards are now available at all its commercial offices and airport access gates nationwide. The authority also disclosed that the cards will be accessible at selected branches of Fidelity Bank Plc beginning March 16, providing additional avenues for the public to obtain them.
The introduction of the card forms part of a broader Federal Government directive requiring all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to migrate to cashless systems. According to FAAN, the policy is designed to strengthen financial transparency, curb revenue leakages, and improve the traceability of transactions across government operations.
Officials say the move will modernize payment processes within airport environments, where large volumes of daily transactions take place. By eliminating cash handling, the authority expects to streamline access procedures and reduce delays at entry points and service counters.
FAAN reiterated its commitment to full compliance with the government’s cashless mandate and appealed to passengers, airport workers, and other stakeholders for patience and cooperation during the transition. The agency clarified that while March 1 marks the enforcement date, the Go-Cashless cards will continue to be available at designated points beyond the deadline.
With implementation set to take effect nationwide, FAAN maintains that the initiative will deliver faster, safer, and more convenient transactions for airport users, aligning Nigeria’s aviation sector with evolving global payment standards.
