As Ogun State marks its golden jubilee, tributes have continued to pour in from prominent sons and daughters of the state, with actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji adding his voice to the celebrations.
The award-winning screen star described Ogun as a land deeply rooted in culture and history, while also standing tall as a beacon of progress and innovation. He noted that the state’s identity as the “Gateway State” reflects its enduring role in shaping Nigeria’s cultural and developmental journey, as well as its wider influence across Africa.
Drawing from his royal lineage, Adedimeji said his position as a Prince of the Agura Kingdom in Abeokuta, Egba land, has instilled in him a strong sense of pride and responsibility. He emphasized that Ogun’s rich traditions and values continue to inspire unity, resilience, and advancement among its people.
The actor also highlighted the role education has played in his personal growth, acknowledging that his academic training at one of Ogun State’s leading tertiary institutions prepared him to contribute meaningfully to society and to the state’s cultural legacy.
