The Abia Angels goalkeeper admitted she initially struggled to process the news, saying the announcement felt surreal.
“At first, I felt like I was dreaming. I was not expecting it. It is all God,” Oloko told PUNCH Sports Extra. “It’s a privilege and also an honour to be among the team. It’s a dream come true for me.”
Beyond celebrating her personal milestone, Oloko offered words of encouragement to young athletes, highlighting the role of perseverance, focus, and faith in achieving success.
“My advice to young players is simple: determination, focus, and hard work pay off… be prayerful because what God cannot do does not exist,” she said.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper has made a name for herself in the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL), keeping four clean sheets this season and earning a Goalkeeper of the Week award. Her performances on the pitch, coupled with her growing popularity on social media, have drawn attention and praise from fans nationwide.
Oloko is among a 25-player squad named by head coach Justine Madugu for upcoming friendlies against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in Yaoundé on Saturday, February 28, and Tuesday, March 3.
The roster features key players including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, forwards Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo, as well as several overseas-based stars such as Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Gift Monday, Comfort Erhabor, and Chidinma Okeke.
Other notable inclusions are midfielder Precious Christopher, defenders Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin, and Ashley Plumptre, midfielders Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Deborah Abiodun, and Jennifer Echegini, and forwards Rinsola Babajide and Folashade Ijamilusi.
Oloko and Rivers Angels’ Anderline Mgbechi are the only two locally-based players from the NWFL included in the squad.
The friendlies against Cameroon are part of Nigeria’s final preparations for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scheduled from March 17 to April 3. The tournament will also determine the four African teams that will earn direct qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
